Future entrepreneurs visit MINKA

During this March MINKA FAIR TRADE organised on behalf of LOJIQ (Les Offices Jeunesse Internationaux du Québec) and in cooperation with ACEE du Québec (L’Association des clubs d’entrepreneurs étudiants) and OFQJ (Office Franco-Québecois pour la Jeunesse) the stay of 13 future entrepreneurs from France and Canada. The participants, aged from 21 to 26, had the chance to visit various Peruvian counterparts and exchange ideas and experiences with them. Within their 9 day-stay they met MINKA’s founder and CEO Norma Velasquez.

EZA in Peru

This March MINKA was visited by a group of our client EZA from beautiful Austria. Beside a nice day in the MINKA Headquater in Lima we have visited together the artisans in our partner comunities Intihuatana near Cusco and Collasuyo close to Juliaca.

Mujeres Batalla

In January MINKA was visited by six female Canadian entrepreneurs who in several meetings had the opportunity to exchange views with Peruvian entrepreneurs.

Background of these meetings is the book ” Mujeres Batalla” (“The warrior women of Peru”) by Peruvian journalist Antonio Orjeda who has interviewed 37 outstanding Peruvian women. Among these successful executives, businesswomen and social entrepreneurs, who are an example of effort, passion and commitment to the country, is also MINKAs CEO Norma Velasquez.

This Project was possible thanks to the support of Les Offices jeunesse internationaux du Québec (LOJIQ).

Annual meeting with the producers

We are very glad to share with you our latest NEWS!!!

From 16th to 19th December 2010, our annual meeting with the producer organizations took place in the highlands of Juliaca. This was an opportunity for MINKA FAIR TRADE to evaluate the past year and to strengthen our bond with the producers, in order to improve our products and tourism services. Also, we took advantage of this annual meeting to talk about the Fair Trade movement and to keep on practicing the democratic values that are so important to us.

Our CEO visited UK

Norma Velasquez went to the UK last October, and went to the Isle of Man, Newcastle and London. She visited our good friends and clients from Traidcraft and People Tree.

Educational Tour – Trade Aid

11 kiwis in Peru

From 14th May to 26th May Minka was visited by a group of Volunteers and Trade Aid staff. They took the opportunity to visit the 3 groups of producers in their local areas (Intihuatana, Taquile and Collasuyo).
